WARNING: If you have watched my others videos on the PS4-U and Xbox One-U then this video will be repetitive.
I have done this video as many viewers have asked what this DIY gadget looks like on Steam and Wii U etc.
In this video I show an alternative to home streaming with zero lag. By using a 1080p monitor and a wireless HDMI you can do the same as streaming but without involving your router/home network. When you go direct from the console via Wireless HDMI to the handheld monitor it results in perfect gameplay.
Here are the timestamps for the different parts/consoles in the video:
2:29 – Equipment needed.
3:44 – Steam.
5:54 – Windows 10.
7:29 – Wattage.
7:57 – Wii.
9:42 – PS3.
10:35 – Wii U.
12:05 – PS4.
13:40 – Nintendo Switch.
Many thanks, Vince.

This is awesome Vince! Just to ask, this is probably a stupid question, but if you outputted the Wii U or Nintendo Switch to a device with a touchscreen, such as a tablet, would you be able to use the touchscreen on that to control it?

Or would you physically have to wire in the desired screen rather than the standard ones for it to work? For that matter, could you use the screen from a Nintendo Switch in a Wii U gamepad given that they’re the same size, although the Switch one is superior, given it’s 720p and has a capacitive touchscreen. Thanks!

you could just use the small steam box and just steam to it on the back of the screen.

Could you please make a tutorial of how you remove the wireless hdmi pcb and put it into the portable monitor? Much appreciated.

I have a few questions. What kind of battery do you get with the better power bank that you suggested? Also can you recommend any other 1080p 10 inch monitors? cause i cant find any atm and the current one is not available on amazon or anywhere really 🙁 most of the other ones i have seen are only 800p. Lastly, how did you detach and reattach the joycon rails to the monitor? I would appreciate it if you answered these questions cause im considering doing this 🙂 Cheers!

Great video bro!!

Cool that you can do that. And definitely something that is worth a look for a kickstarter, or some tech business could try. No guaranteed success, though – it’s hard to say if there’s really a market for that. The Switch may be a success – but the Wii U wasn’t, and the Wii U was basically that concept (casting the system’s output to a remote device).
